What comes up…must come down, it’s gravity, people!

Welcome Back to my BLOG. It’s been forever since we talked last (it’s more that I talk to you and you listen with all of your heart).

Yesterday I delved into the underbelly world of having a sister… I mean manager, and how corrupt they can be (or how corrupt they find you are as their client). I’m still at SEVENTEEN SALES at my SHOP, and so just three more sales and she will make some money.

You ask, “But, Katnawlins don’t you have two sisters… who is the other one, the less manager one?” Great question, Internet. I do in fact have another sister, and she is coming to stay with me this very weekend in Los Angeles. Amazing timing on that one. She goes to UC Berkeley, who happen to be playing a football game this very weekend against UCLA. So, she is coming down in one of these, or something very close to it with the words “GO BERKELEY” written all over it I’m sure, and beer cans littering the floor.

BUT WAIT WAIT. More important news than my sister coming to visit this weekend is another event that is happening this weekend, and that is…. SAINTS vs GIANTS game! My name is “katnawlins,” so obviously I am a die-hard SAINTS fan! Both teams are in the NFC, and are UNDEFEATED, so this is going to be a tight, tight game! Luckily for the Saints it’s being played in the New Orleans Superdome, which happens to be one of the loudest domes in the whole NFL… WHO DAT! (who dat is a chant of support by saints fans to each other, or the name of Young Jeezy’s album “recession“) On that note I once saw a young child wearing a REGGIE BUSH jersey in NYC, and I yelled, “WHO DAT!” And his parents gave me a dirty look. C’mon!

Anyway, I’m super excited/nervous about the game. This will be the first time Native Son Eli Manning (QB for the Giants) will be playing in the Superdome. The game plays 1PM eastern/ 10am pacific. WATCH IT! and root for the SAINTS if you know what’s good for you. (sorry not to threaten)

Thanks, Dougie. Also, thank you for being honest about my art (not everyone has to like it, but everyone does have to buy it, just keeeding, guys!) My favorite place in Boston… hmm I guess I’d have to go with the Public Garden in spring/fall. The public garden in the winter can go fuck itself. Oh, and please don’t REP your football team in my blog- get your own blog for that! Thanks.

3. Wait a second, Katnawlins. I don’t think you should have talked to “Dougie from Mass” like that. He should be able to REP his Pats all day long if he wants. In fact I’m going to REP the red soxs, right here, right now (even if they aren’t in the play offs). GO SOXS! – Jo-Jo (from Worchester, MA).

Jo-Jo, I don’t understand how you could ask me that question before I even published Dougie’s question. I’m impressed. I’m sorry. People can rep their teams now in the “die-hard fan” section (it only makes sense). I was acting like a real tyrant. My apologies.

that last post was a tidge too long

Wow, that last post was on the long side, eh? I hated it for you, my poor readers. So, let’s go another way today (this is where I’d just write a sentence and say Peace, and be done with it).

I’m going to switch gears a little from the last post, which was all about my life as a working actor, and instead talk about my life as a starving artist (I crossed out “starving” because I actually make money doing the “art” thing). Let me tell you who isn’t making any money off of me! And that’s my manager, who also happens to be my youngest sister, Olivia.

When I started my “ART BUSINESS” my sister, manager Olivia was only helping me with distribution of post cards around New Orleans (like in boutiques, cafes, gyms and restaurants).

This is one of four designs of post cards we left all over New Orleans

But she got greedy and demanded that one day she get paid for her work. So, we signed a contract saying that if I sold TWENTY pieces on my SITE. Then I would begin to pay her 10% (she didn’t like that amount so we upped it to a whopping 15%).  Currently I’m at seventeen sales on my site, which means that my manager is only THREE SALES AWAY FROM MAKING BANK! To help her case she gladly agreed to be interviewed for my blog today. Here is an excerpt of the polite interview we had.

Questions 1: Why did you go into business with Katnawlins?

Answer: I went into business with you because I didn’t know any better

Quesion 2: What have you learned?

Answer: I haven’t learned shit.

Question 3: What mistakes have you made going into business with Katnawlins?

Answer: I made mistakes because you never pay me.

Question 4: Any other thoughts?

Answer: Please don’t portray me as a puppy, that’s weird.

2. Don’t worry, Katnawlins. I hearted your last long blog post a lot. as a struggling actor i totally got the need to express your concerns! break a leg (i literally just broke my leg in a freak-extra-gig that basically went wrong). – Clark (from Arrowhead, OK)

Thank you, Clark. I’m sorry to hear about your broken leg. Also maybe move out of Arrowhead, and you won’t be struggling so much (just a thought). I hope you heal and keep the dream alive, son.
